If you wish to travel with a particular person as your guardian (every veteran is accompanied on the trip by a guardian), please make sure to write his/her name on the appropriate line of the application. You are not required to select a guardian. If you do not have a guardian in mind to accompany you on the trip, a trained volunteer guardian will be assigned to you. If you choose to select your own guardian, please have that individual complete the Guardian's Application by clicking on the Guardian link below.
Veterans receive round trip airfare from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to Baltimore-Washington International Airport, chartered bus transportation, continental breakfast, lunch buffet and box dinner, Honor Flight Cleveland T-shirt and cap, disposable camera, post cards and brochures of the memorials. Souvenirs are not included.
The guardian plays an essential role in the veteran's Honor Flight venture. The guardian is a travel companion to the vet, who provides one-on-one assistance to assure safety, comfort and a positive Honor Flight experience. The guardian assists the vet through security at the airports, boarding the plane, getting on and off the bus, assuring the vet gets his/her meals, pushing the veteran in a wheelchair (as necessary), and accompanying him/her to all the memorials.
If you would like to accompany a veteran on a trip as an escort, please complete the guardian application by clicking on the link below. The cost to all guardians is $250 payable to Honor Flight Cleveland and is due one week before the flight. If you wish to travel with a particular veteran, make sure you indicate so on the appropriate line of the application. Your trip will include air transportation to and from Baltimore-Washington International Airport, chartered bus transportation, continental breakfast, lunch buffet and box dinner, airport parking, and an Honor Flight Cleveland T-shirt. Souvenirs are not included.
Guardians are required to attend a training session before their assigned flight. Training sessions are held in three different locations from March through October. You do not need to make a reservation to attend, but you are required to attend prior to your flight. For the training dates, times and locations, click on theCalendar link. If you volunteer for multiple flights, one training is all that is required.
